Participation in the Daisenji Temple Prayer Service “Mikoshi Gyoko” and Straw Craft Experience
- Description
- Itinerary
- Meeting points
“Mikoshi Gyoko” is a magnificent traditional event held only once every 3 years.
A special experience where you can actually participate in this precious event while wearing a white costume.
The day before, under the ceiling painting of Mizuki Shigeru’s specter, which is not open to the public, while being taught by the locals,
I will make a lucky charm horse with straw work. Straw crafts made with your own hands will truly be your own amulet. “Mikoshi Gyoko” is a traditional event that has continued since the Heian period to pray for peace in the country and a good harvest of five grains. A procession of monks and soldiers, squirrel, and young children parade along the approach to the shrine, carrying mikoshi and aiming for the main hall of Daisenji Temple, and an elegant period picture scroll unfolds.
